CARING FOR FAMILY DURING COVID-19

Our top priority at St. Mark Village is to keep our Residents and Team Members safe and healthy.  We understand how difficult the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has been on everyone, especially for those with loved ones residing in Life Care communities like St. Mark Village, which includes Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Nursing Care, and Rehabilitation centers. Currently, there is no visitation in our Health Care Centers with the exception of emergency personnel, and we are screening in Independent Living.

In an effort to keep our St. Mark Village family safe and healthy, we have taken various precautions, as mandated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization, and the Agency for Healthcare Administration.  We encourage you to do the same to protect your own family.

We have created a list of frequently asked questions to help ease those who are understandably concerned:

How is the elderly population being protected against COVID-19?

Everyone is encouraged to follow the general sanitary regulations that the CDC and the World Health Organization (WHO) are recommending.   These simple measures are the most effective way to reduce COVID-19.

·         Frequent hand washing

·         Maintaining a 6-foot distance from those around you

·         Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth

·         Appropriately covering coughs and sneezes

Both of our campuses are equipped with necessary supplies and resources, as outlined by the CDC.  For example:

·         Alcohol-based hand sanitizer

·         Well-stocked bathrooms (running water, soap, and paper towels)

·         Trash disposal bins

In addition to these standard supplies, healthy and delicious food service continues.

What signs should I be looking for that could indicate that my elderly family member or friend might have COVID-19?

The CDC describes the symptoms for COVID-19 as:

·         Fever

·         Cough

·         Shortness of breath

To help put your mind at ease, please know that our Team Members are consistently monitoringthe health and well-being of our Residents.

How can I communicate without visitation?

We are assisting with alternative means of communication, such as virtual contact via a phone call or video-communication, for those who would otherwise visit.
In addition, we are encouraging family members and friends to write letters and create care packages for Residents.

Where can I learn more about COVID-19?

Knowledge is power. To learn more about COVID-19, visit:

·         CDC’s Coronavirus Disease 2019

·         World Health Organization’s Coronavirus disease advice for the public

The COVID-19 outbreak is alarming to many. However, we hope that this update offers some reassurance that your family members or friends are well attended to.  Knowing this often that makes all the difference—to everyone. Please keep yourselves and the ones you hold dear safe and healthy. We will continue to regularly update our webpage about our precautions and safety measures as necessary.

Most importantly, if you ever have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call us at (727) 785-2580.  We are always available to speak with you. For the latest information regarding our response to Coronavirus (COVID-19), visit us online at: www.StMarkVillage.org/Covid19.
