The James H. Fresh Legacy is a giving avenue to supplement the annual budget of St. Mark Village while contributing to Village projects, programs, and Resident assistance.
All supported projects, programs, and Resident assistance have a common goal: Improving the lives of the Residents. Membership in the society is comprised of Residents, family members, staff, friends, and board members of St. Mark Village.
Charitable Giving – Most gifts are gifts of cash. Gifts of stocks, bonds, and real estate are also welcomed and in most cases the capital gains tax is avoided. Monthly gifts from the heart of any amount are appreciated from Residents and Staff alike.
Capital Giving – Specific projects and programs are designated by the Board of Directors that are vital to improving the lives of the Residents, but are not included in the annual budget. Legacy Society Members commit pledges of cash over a specific period of time.
Planned Giving – Estate gifts are received through bequests in wills and inclusions in ones Trust or Life Insurance. Estate gifts can be designated for a specific use such as the Resident Assistance Fund, the Staff Retirement Fund, or a specific Capital Improvement Fund. In addition, planned or deferred gifts may provide resources while guaranteeing very favorable income to the donor with tax advantages that include sizeable deductions. Gifts such as Charitable Gift Annuities are written through the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Foundation which currently has over 5000 active gift annuities. St. Mark Village would be named the charitable remainder beneficiary.
St. Mark Village is a not-for-profit and a 501-C3 charitable community; therefore, all gifts may be tax deductible. Most importantly, “Gifts from the Heart”, provide the satisfaction of knowing that each gift will improve the lives of the Residents and fulfill the Mission of the Village.
With written permission, all members will have their names engraved on the James H. Fresh Legacy Society plaque outside the Chapel according to their level of contribution. All gifts are kept confidential unless authorized in writing for public recognition. Legacy Members will also be recognized each year at an annual Celebration of Mission.
As we prepare for the Holiday Season and the end of 2016, “Give from the Heart” of your time, talent, and money.
